News & Events at Westlands Retirement Home

The next Open Lunch is Wednesday 4th July when families, friends as well as anyone who is interested in trying our food, hospitality and surroundings. For £5 you can enjoy great food and a glass of wine. Anyone is welcome to the majority of our events and activities. We know how hard it is to move into residential care, but it can be much easier if you get to know us first. Even if you don't ever need to come and live with us on a full time basis, we would be delighted to welcome you to our events and enjoy the great food as well as the social side of life at Westlands.

Regular activities at Westlands include bingo, a quiz, cross words, manicures, hand massages, a reading group, armchair exercises and film afternoons. Twice  each week residents enjoy trips out around the region or coffee mornings in local cafe's. Our hairdresser visits once a week and we also have regular visits from a chiropodist.

We have linked up with a local primary school and enjoyed two lovely events. In November, we took residents to meet groups of children and share their experiences of school life in the 1930's and 40's. Since then letters and invitations have been exchanged and we attended the schools nativity play. Eleven or our residents went along and had a wonderful time. We hope to do more events with the school in the including arts and crafts and other events on specific days of celebration.
