News & Events at Westlands Retirement Home

There is now a definate autumn feel to the weather in Teignmouth and we continue to enjoy 'Drives Out' a couple of times each week. We have been enjoying an alternative venue for coffees or teas out in Bishopsteignton. The Vineyard has fabulous views over the Teign Valley and make a excellent cup of tea!

We have introduced 'film afternoons' at weekends with popcorn and icecreams! Other regular activities are manicures, hand massages, bingo, a quiz and armchair exercises. We have recently been holding a reading group in the lounge. Our hairdresser, Barbara visits once a week and we also have regular visits from a chiropodist.

The next open lunch is Wednesday 4th October where we welcome families and friends of residents as well as anyone who is interested in visiting Westlands to try our food, hospitality and surroundings. For £4.50 you can enjoy great food and a glass of wine. Anyone is welcome to the majority of our events and activities. We know how hard it is to move into residential care, but it is much easier if you get to know us first. Even if you don't ever need to come and live with us on a full time basis, we would be delighted to welcome you to have sociable time with other residents and to enjoy our great food.

In order to ensure that we continue to provide the highest quality care, we have invited a representative from the Quality Assurance organisation to spend time at Westlands observing our care practices in order to provide us with feedback and identify any improvement opportunities.
